Los Alcazares is a typical holiday town and the largest centre on the Mar Menor. There is an esplanade along the whole length of the town’s seafront, a large marina, shops, restaurants and bars.  The beaches are very clean and slope gently out into the Mar Manor.  Each year around Easter there is a Medieal Festival in the town which is well worth visiting. 

 

         

 

San Javier on the Mar Menor has a beautiful church, shops and supermarkets, Each summer, San Javier holds a Jazz Festival in the open-air amphitheatre.  Van Morrison, George Benson and Bill Wyman and his Rhythm Kings have all appeared in recent years.

 

Los Nietos is a small but charming Spanish seaside resort with a promenade, safe beaches, and a small marina. On Sunday mornings there is a market selling anything from fruit and vegetables to clothes and gifts.

 

Playa Honda/Playa Paraiso. This is a fairly new town with flat, safe beaches.

 

Águilas situated on the Costa Cálida is an old Roman fishing port and has a wide range of tourist facilities and wonderful beaches.  This port city has a long tradition of seafaring and a wonderful town centre.  Click here for more information.

 

Salinas de San Pedro is well worth a visit. The salinas (salt flats) are home to flamingos and other birds and there are walkways that allow you to get close for your photographs.  There is a thriving fishing industry as well as tourism and agriculture in the area.  Click on the above link for more information.
