There are many wonderful beaches in the area offering something for everyone. These are just a few:
Playa Lastre next to Portman Marina
Good for snorkelling with clear water and caves. Restaurant/bar open in the summer months.
Mar de Cristal and Los Nietos
Large beaches on the edge of the Mar Menor. Great for kids as the water is warm and shallow. Sun beds and shades for rent and beachside restaurants and bars. Paddle boats also for hire in high season.
Las Salinas
Beach on the edge of the Mar Menor. Sun beds and shades for rental and beachside bar and restaurant.
Las Cala beach in La Mange Club
Only accessible by car and steps down to beach from car park. Pebble beach with an area of sand. Sun beds and shades available for rent. Restaurant opens in the summer only. Wonderful swimming around the cove and good for snorkelling but not suitable for younger children.
Calablanque
A long stretch of beach on the edge of a National Park. Signposted off the main dual carriageway between Los Belones and Cabo de Palos. No permanent road i.e. lots of pot holes! The beach offers no facilities so you will need to take drinks etc but please remember to bring all rubbish away with you. Be careful not to swim far from the beach as there are strong currents along this beach.
La Manga Strip
The strip is 28Km long with beaches on either side. The Mar Menor side offers still and shallow waters, ideal for kids. You can hire paddleboats/hobby cats, banana boat rides and Jet Ski’s in a couple of places on the Mar Menor side. As you travel along the Strip the beaches become less busy and more deserted but are less likely to have facilities. Saturdays and Sundays are very busy and there is often a lot of traffic.
